Plan ahead for your Head! Hairstying for the Holiday Season.

02 Oct

October is finally here! It is typically the tip off of the holiday season for the United States. There are so many Jewish and Christian Holidays going on now through the beginning of January. It’s a time filled with family gatherings and business parties. It is a season of excitement and flaunting! It is also the hardest time of the year to get an appointment in the salon. Please make sure you book all your appointments now for the rest of the year. Often people who do not usually get their hair done during other seasons will during the holiday season.

Things to remember about hair services when planning appointments a men’s short cut last between 2 and 4 weeks. Longer men’s styles last about 4 to 6 weeks. Women’s short hair cuts last 4 to 6 weeks. Woman’s long hair cuts last 6 to 8 weeks. Foil services last 3 to 6 months with color retouches every 4 to 6 weeks. Hair color services last between 4 to 6 weeks unless covering gray (which will show through after 2 weeks) and must be retouched no later than 4 weeks. Keratin treatments last between 4 to 16 weeks depending on the brand your stylist uses. An event hairstyle needs to have two appointments. One to discuss how you want your hair, the time needed to make it happen and a practice style as well as the second appointment on the day of the event. You also should be aware of how long each service takes to plan accordingly. Always ask you stylist when planning the appointment how long they think it will take. Different stylist and products work and process in different times.

Conditioning Treatments – In the winter season we use heat to stay warm and push our hair to the limit with styling. All of this can be hard on your hair, so you want to make at least one appointment that includes a conditioning treatment per month. This will help to keep your hair healthy through the winter season. Ask your stylist what is the best treatment for your hair. At our salon we offer about 15 different types of conditioning treatments that range from added application to a couple hours of treatment. Each is dependent on what your hair needs from protein, moisture, nourishment, or any combination of the three.

Appointment courtesy is another issue. Please remember that being even 15 minutes late to an appointment can cause havoc on your stylist. With so many appointments to keep in such a busy season do not be surprised if your stylists ask you to reschedule when you are late. It is polite to arrive 10 minutes early and sometimes will lead to getting in a few minutes earlier.

If you are sick please reschedule your appointment. We see and touch lots of clients’ everyday and if you are sick it will easily spread to the stylist and all their clients.

Don’t forget that this is a season of traveling, so make sure to pick up your favorite products in travel sizes if flying. Most salons will have travel size products available during this season but if your salon doesn’t make sure to ask them to order your products at least 3 weeks before you need them. This will give time for the products to arrive.

We wish you wonderful hair through out the holiday season!
